Herbal medicine is the essence of nature.
Herbal medicine developed from the careful observation of how natural substances affect the body. At SOIAN Clinic, traditional prescription principles are combined with the patient’s constitution, current symptoms and clinical findings rather than treating herbs as a universal remedy.
Because decoctions all look similar after boiling, people often mistake them for the same medicine. However, with just a little attention, you will see that there is a vast variety of herbal medicines. Even for herbs with the same name, they are categorized by their origin and region of growth. Currently, there are about 3,000 types of herbal medicines, and of these, 200 to 300 types are mainly used in our clinic. Combining these herbs actually yields tens of thousands of unique formulas. By blending these ingredients according to traditional medical principles (Gun-Shin-Jwa-Sa), we create herbal medicine that maximizes the efficacy of the core herb.
Herbal prescriptions contain multiple natural components, and their effects depend on the combination, dosage and direction of the formula. Traditional prescription principles organize these components so that the prescription addresses the patient’s overall pattern while minimizing unnecessary ingredients.
SOIAN herbal prescriptions are selected after classifying constitution and reviewing the current symptom pattern, digestion, sleep, circulation, medication use and recovery capacity. The prescription is adjusted according to response rather than assuming that the same formula will suit everyone.
My prescribing approach combines constitutional assessment, pattern identification and clinical experience. Response varies by condition and individual, so the formula and treatment plan are reviewed step by step during care.
Each prescription is prepared with the same care I would use for my own family, with attention to the patient’s condition, safety, current medication and treatment goals.
