CONDITION GUIDE
Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss
Move quickly on hearing evaluation while beginning recovery care for the symptoms that make daily life difficult.
EARLY RESPONSE
Do not wait when hearing changes suddenly
Arrange prompt hearing and medical evaluation
A sudden drop in hearing, new tinnitus, ear fullness or dizziness should be assessed promptly by an otolaryngology service. Standard tests and treatment should not be delayed while you explore complementary care.
Address the whole recovery pattern
Alongside the hearing change, we review tinnitus, pressure in the ear, imbalance, neck and jaw tension, sleep and fatigue. Existing medication is never stopped or changed without the prescribing clinician.
Track hearing and daily function separately
Hearing-test results are important, but recovery may also appear as less intrusive tinnitus, reduced ear pressure, steadier walking, better sleep and greater tolerance for sound. These changes are reviewed together.
